Vi? [ Jinx shakes her communicator furiously. It doesn't make the message transmit any clearer. Desperation and anger build until she throws it into the distance... and immediately runs after where she heard it land. The mirror inside is shattered when she cracks it open, but she can still hear faint echoes of her sister's voice. They may or may not be coming from the device. ]
Vi! I'm down here, [ she supplies, not knowing how much, if anything, will get across. ] I'm in hell.
[ Vi hears the word 'hell', at least, and that's enough. It nauseates her to think of Powder down here, but at least Vi's deduction had been right. Hearing her sister's voice is enough for her to actually pause and take a breath of relief. Alive. She can't stay put for long, though, even if she probably could use a rest. She hasn't been seen by a medic in some time, and it shows. A couple of cuts and bruises are old, with fresh ones overlapping, but there's always one more thing to deal with.
She'd be a lot worse off without the gauntlets, though. Even now she keeps them near while holding her watch close, giving it a little shake like that will actually do anything.
Why?! You need to get out of here! she wants to shout. But she has to find her first. She can't risk scaring Powder away. ]
Powder! Where? How far?
[ After a moment of nothing coming back through, Vi grunts and grabs the gauntlets to move again. Maybe if she can get closer, the magic will get stronger. Is that how it works? It should make sense.
None of this makes sense, though. This whole place makes her skin crawl... What even are the buildings made of? It takes awhile for Vi to realize what she can hear in the distance sounds like a heartbeat, drowning out her own. And she's heard more than that...
There are animals, or worse, out there somewhere. More monsters? If some of the demonic remains Vi has come across are any indication of what's out there, then she needs to find Powder, take her people and leave this doomed kingdom in the dust.
The citadel isn't worth Powder's life. ]
Powder?
[ Before Vi can continue to plead with her to get out of here, she spots something in the distance. The sight of tentacles immediately makes her wary, but...there are stairs beyond the creature.
What if Powder made it beyond? Further down? Should she keep searching here, or try to get past the tentacle creature? She doesn't feel much like negotiating, but something about the creature keeps her from wanting to immediately attack it.
When it begins speaking (a woman?), Vi seems to momentarily forget all about the communicator or what she was using it for, straining to get closer to better understand what the woman's saying. ]
